Position: English Speaking Support Group Facilitator
Salary & Benefits: $25/hr
2 hours per week, 1 hour Group FacilitationÂ
Currently Support Group is on Mondays but some consistent flexibility is allowedÂ
Job Description:Â
This position is contracted. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate support group facilitator to lead our English Speaking Support Group. Our Support Group is once a week, and the position allows one hour of prep. The Support Group Facilitator would lead group discussions, foster a safe and inclusive environment, and promote mutual support among participants dealing with shared challenges. The leader would ensure confidentiality, and encourage participation.Â
Responsibilities
Guide meetings, set agendas, and encourage participation from all members while keeping discussions on topic.
Cultivate a respectful, empathetic, and confidential environment, ensuring the space is emotionally secure for participants.
Mitigate conflicts, manage time, and balance the needs of diverse participants.
Share relevant information and connect participants to community resources or crisis support.
Maintain attendance and complete documentation on group sessions.
Develop activities to foster participant engagement and connection.
Acquire feedback from Direct Client Service Staff current needs to develop meaningful and relevant activities for the support group agenda examples include grounding activities, meditations, crafts etc.Â
Required Skills and Qualifications
Ability to listen actively, show compassion, and understand emotional needs.
Strong verbal skills to facilitate discussions and guide, rather than dictate, conversation.
Ability to manage difficult situations and de-escalate potential conflicts.
Requires lived experience (peer support) or a background in social work, psychology, or a related field.
Commitment to facilitating meetings regularly, with a 1 year commitment preferred.Â
Training Requirements:
Thirty (30) hours of domestic violence training is required by the Idaho Council on Domestic Violence. Previous equivalent experience can be substituted.
