Position:                      Attic Retail Associate/Furniture Mover

Team Lead:                  Attic Manager  

Classification:             Non-Exempt, Full-time

Salary & Benefits:       $20-$25 start, DOE

 

    •  Annual pay increases per salary structure and budget allowances

    • 35-38 hour work week, possible Saturday Coverage

    •  Simple IRA retirement plan, 3%, matched savings after three months

Job Description:

The Retail Associate/Furniture Mover will interact directly with community members while working as a attic associate. This position includes interacting with donors in a professional and respectful manner, representing The Advocates positively during all donation pick-ups. Responsibilities include coordinating with team members during moves, navigating pick-up locations, and ensuring items are handled with care.


 

Retail Associate Duties (60% of Position): 

·       Sort, hang, and price merchandise for sale.

·       Assist with store décor and overall store appearance and organization.

·       Assist customers and provide general customer service

·       Receive and acknowledge donations

·       Assist with store sales, promotions, public relations and advertising.

·       Handle money transactions, including use of cash register.

·       General education and awareness of the Advocates services and programs as requested and appropriate.

 

Furniture Mover Duties (40 % of Position):

·       Assist with furniture donation pick-ups and deliveries

·       Safely lift, move, load, and unload furniture and large items (50 lbs or more)

·       Communicate clearly with team members to ensure safe and efficient moving practices

·       Interact professionally and respectfully with donors, representing the organization positively

·       Drive organization vehicles as needed

 

Qualifications: 


·       Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse racial, cultural, socioeconomic, and identity backgrounds

·       Strong interpersonal and communication skills

·       Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting 50 lbs or more

·       Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required

·       Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Specific Duties: 


Maintain organization and cleanliness of moving trucks, storage areas, and staging zones.

Handle furniture with care, using blankets, straps, and dollies to prevent damage.

Follow all safety protocols for lifting, carrying, and transporting heavy items.

Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding scheduling, routes, and any issues that arise.

 

Training Requirements

Must complete orientation to the Advocates.  Other training will be provided on the job.

           

Schedule:

35-38 hours a week. 4 Day work week. Possible Saturday coverage.

The Attic Thrift Store is seeking a Furniture Moving Assistant to join our team. This position will be responsible for the safe transportation of furniture items, including picking up donations and delivering purchases to customers.
