About us

Our Voices, Our Community

Each day, we are presented with the choice to Speak Out, to make a difference, to change a life.
Learn what we do, and why, from those closest to our work.

The Advocates’ mission is to teach people of all ages how to build and maintain healthy relationships. We accomplish this through education, shelter and support services.

We envision a compassionate community, free from emotional and physical abuse.

In the service of building a healthy community,

  • We value the development and support of our team of qualified staff and volunteers.
  • We value the provision of compassionate, confidential, and non-judgmental services.
  • We value the empowerment of our clients through education, access to resources and accountability.
  • We value community collaboration to promote a violence-free society.
  • We value the possibility of social and individual change.

The Advocates

The Advocates’ professionally trained staff and dedicated volunteers offer more than 30 free, essential services in English and Spanish, 24 hours a day, including a staffed shelter, crisis intervention, safety planning, support groups, and legal assistance, as well as prevention programs in the schools and community. The Advocates is a non-profit organization that exists exclusively for charitable, educational, and service functions. A Board of Directors, representative of the community, provides guidance for the organization.
