2011 :: The Advocates Commemorates 20 Years with New Website

2010 :: The Advocates Commemorates 20 Years with New Logo

2004 :: In January, kicked off endowment fund raising campaign with goal of raising $500,000 to bring endowment to $1 million

2003 :: March started sheltering clients in the Cottage In August, opened A Place for Kids, a nonprofit community child care center In December, opened the Advocates’ Attic, a new and used retail store for women and children.

2002 :: Started first local mentoring program for children of our clients In July, purchased land next to the shelter for future expansion Remodeled 75 year old house on property to use for expanded office and shelter space, the Cottage.

2001 :: Developed and published Sun Valley Celebrities and Local Heroes Cookbook, Second Edition, compiled and edited by Jennifer Diehl.

2000 :: Paid off shelter loan

1999 :: Ground breaking for the shelter in March and opened shelter in December Started endowment to provide lasting support.

1998 :: First major fund raising event “Celebrate” held, and $30,000 raised.

1997 :: Shelter development needs assessment and feasibility study completed

1995 :: Partner abuse counseling and education program (PACE) developed by Blaine County Domestic Violence Task Force

1994 :: Another 10,000 copies of Sun Valley Celebrities and Local Heroes Cookbook were printed.

1993 :: January of 1993, the Advocates Against Domestic Abuse became the Advocates for Survivors of Domestic Violence Sun Valley Celebrities and Local Heroes Cookbook was conceived and released in December The book was complied by Sheila Liermann and edited by Nancy Reid The Blaine County Domestic Violence Task Force started in May In August, the Advocates moved to a new office in the Croy Street Exchange Building in Hailey.

1992 :: The group incorporated on May 8, 1992 as Advocates Against Domestic Violence (AADV) and was founded on the belief that every person has the right to live in a safe environment Forty volunteer advocates attended the first training in May/June Received first grant from the Idaho Council on Domestic Violence for $8,500 In August, started 24 hour hotline staffed by 21 volunteers Rented first office space in the Fox Building on Main Street in Hailey, and the first staff person was hired in December.

1991 :: A group of four women, Char Roth, Julie Caldwell, Cally Huttar, and Vicky Starr saw a need for domestic violence services for women and took action to support a young local woman who was being sexually abused by her brother The group dedicated itself to ending physical and emotional violence in the lives of battered families in Blaine County The first support group started.
